MY STORY
Why I Created The Resilience Reset™
If you'd told me twenty years ago I'd become an acupuncturist, I would have laughed. I didn't grow up believing in acupuncture or alternative medicine. I wasn't looking for a holistic lifestyle or searching for the latest wellness trend. In fact, I was skeptical.
I came to acupuncture for one reason: I was desperate.
After the birth of my son — who weighed almost ten pounds — I broke my tailbone. The pain was relentless. Sitting hurt. Standing hurt. Even holding my newborn to feed him was agonizing. I went from working out five or six days a week to struggling with the simplest daily tasks. One doctor's answer was surgery — removing my coccyx altogether. I wasn't willing to accept that as my only option.
Over the next eighteen months I tried everything: physical therapy, chiropractic care, massage, specialist after specialist. Thousands of dollars and countless hours later, I was still in constant pain, exhausted, and discouraged enough to start reconsidering the surgery.
Then a friend suggested acupuncture. I figured I had nothing left to lose.
"The thing I feared almost as much as surgery — the needles — turned out to be one of the most relaxing experiences of my life."
I fell asleep during my first treatment. My pain eased for about an hour. That might not sound like much, but after eighteen months of chronic pain, an hour of feeling like myself again felt extraordinary. After my second treatment, I was pain-free for three days. After my third, a full week. Within eight visits, I was essentially pain-free.
That experience didn't just change my pain. It changed what I believed was possible.
In the years since, life kept testing me. I walked through infertility (6 IVFs and 7 IUIs). I navigated a difficult marriage and eventually found the strength to move through divorce. I experienced the emotional weight of loving someone struggling with addiction — and learned that no matter how much you care about someone, you can't make their choices for them. During the pandemic, I was caring for my mother through a bone marrow transplant while my husband at the time was being treated for cancer — trying to hold everyone else up while quietly falling apart myself.
Those seasons stretched me in ways I never imagined, teaching me resilience one challenge at a time. Each chapter taught me something new.
People often told me to meditate. I tried. I wanted it to help, but sitting quietly with my thoughts only made me more frustrated. It simply wasn't the right place for me to start.
Walking became my meditation.
Later, during fertility treatments, I found positive affirmations, and they helped shift the constant narrative of fear and disappointment that had taken over my mind. Slowly, I became open to more: gratitude, breathwork, better sleep habits, and eventually meditation — but only after finding styles and teachers that truly resonated with me.
None of these practices transformed my life overnight. Each one added another layer. Some worked immediately. Some didn't. Some I abandoned and returned to years later.
What I learned is that recovery isn't about finding the one perfect strategy — it's about understanding your own body well enough to know which tools actually work for you.
That's the foundation the Resilience Reset™ is built on. I created it because I see so many women living the way I once did — high-functioning on the outside but overwhelmed on the inside. Navigating career pressure, parenting, relationship change, perimenopause, caregiving, infertility, grief, or chronic stress, often all at once.
My goal isn't to hand you another list of things you "should" be doing. It's to help you understand why your nervous system responds the way it does, take away the fear that comes from not understanding your own symptoms, and guide you toward the tools that actually work for your life.
I wish someone had told me years ago that my body wasn't broken — it was trying to protect me. I wish someone had told me recovery doesn't require perfection, and that there's no single routine that works for everyone.
Small, consistent changes really do matter. Curiosity is more powerful than self-criticism. Progress comes from learning how your own nervous system responds — not from trying to force yourself into someone else's definition of wellness.
That is why I created the Resilience Reset™.
Because every woman deserves to understand her body, feel supported through life's hardest chapters, and discover that resilience isn't something you're born with. It's something you build, one small step at a time.
